What is a dehor?

By dehor we mean the set of movable elements that can be dismantled or easily removed, placed in a harmonious and functional way on the public space which together constitute the area for the outdoor refreshment of a public exercise. Above all, permanent dehors, which can be used throughout the year, can be important sources of additional business for the premises. This is particularly important in some cases: firstly, when it is necessary to expand the surface of the room, but the costs or physical boundaries of the environments do not allow it. The permanent dehor can also become the concrete solution to offer smokers a year-round space in compliance with the law on smoking in public

Verifications and documentation

Before thinking about how to make a terrace, it is advisable to make some checks. It is fundamental to evaluate whether the space available is sufficient to create a truly usable space. The minimum dimensions necessary for an outdoor area are established by municipal legislation. First of all, it is necessary to present the application for a concession, to be addressed to the Sector Manager or to the District Director of the Municipality, who will issue the concession to the occupation of public land. This typically lasts 5 years from the date of issue.

dehor cuppariThe application must be accompanied by extensive documentation which must include, among other things, plans, technical reports, brochures illustrating the elements and furnishings, photographic documentation of the building and the surrounding area, written consent of the property or of the operator, if any permission from the Superintendence for Architectural Heritage, in the case of restricted buildings. The terms of granting the concession, from the presentation of the application, are 45 days.
A “precious” advice: entrusting yourself to a service company or at least a technician able to draw up the documentation and follow the procedures costs a little, but it will save you time and effort.
